How to Use

Dogonit is readily available in economical trigger spray plastic bottles. The Ready-To-Use trigger spray bottle conveniently treats smaller dog spots. Simply spray each spot, approximately 4-5 inches in diameter with 7-8 sprays and flush with water. Repeat every 5-7 days until spot has grown in. You should be able to get results with one or two applications. If the dog continues to mark the same spot, it will become difficult to heal the lawn. For best results, apply as soon as possible after the dog has urinated on lawn or when first signs of yellowing appear. 1 quart treats up to 160 spots.

Dogonit concentrate treats larger spots and large areas. Dogonit 32 oz concentrate will make one gallon of ready to use products for refilling your trigger spray bottles. For larger areas of up to 1000 square feet we recommend using a hose end applicator with the flow rate set at a 10 to 1 ratio of water to concentrate. Be careful not to over water and spray the area evenly.

What if I do not water it in right away?

The dog spots are not filling in as quickly in the summer as they did in spring, why?

Most grasses - bluegrass, fescue, and ryegrass grow more slowly in the summer. As the temperature increases, their rate of growth decreases. It is not uncommon for spots to not infill in the height of summer as a result. This is especially evident when the temperature is in the high 90's or greater. The rate of infill is limited to the rate of growth of the grass.

Can I reseed the spots after applying Dogonit?

Yes, you can reseed dog spots shortly after applying Dogonit. Dogonit's unique microbial activity does not impact germination or survivability of grasss seed. Once seeded, spots should fill in fairly quickly. We recommend using our RevitaLawn Grass Patch for terrific germination and faster growth.

Why does dog urine cause yellow spots in lawns?

The spots are caused by an excess rate of uric acid, which is converted to ammonia, and high rates of salts or a combination of both. Dogonit ties up the salts and ammonia and increases the filtration rate through the soil improving the ability of the grass to grow.

Is urine from female dogs worse than that from males?

Females discharge urine in a more concentrated area than males, which is more likely to lead to spotting in lawns. However, the real culprit is the concentration of the urine itself. The more highly concentrated the urine, the greater the damage to the grass.

What causes the difference in concentration of urine?

A number of factors are at work: the amount of water the dog consumes, genetics, and the dog's diet.
