Dogonit FAQ
How does Dogonit Work?
Dogonit will flush the urine salts out of the root zone and allow the grass to begin to heal itself. Dogonit also contains ingredients that will convert the urine nitrogen into beneficial nutrients and help regenerate grass growth.
Can I apply Dogonit to the entire lawn?
Yes, it will give the lawn needed organic complexes and surfactants to help the lawn get healthier.
How often do I need to use Dogonit?
You should be able to get results with one or two applications. If the dog continues to re mark the same spot, it will become difficult o heal the lawn. Dogonit should be reapplied when new spots begin to appear in the lawn. Typically an application lasts, 6 to 8 weeks.
Is Dogonit safe for children and pets?
Yes, there are no herbicides or pesticides in Dogonit. Dogonit is absolutely 100% safe for people, pets and the planet.
How do I use Dogonit?
Simply spray each spot, approximately 4-5 inches in diameter with 7-8 sprays and flush with water. Repeat every 5-7 days until spot has grown in.
How many squirts of Dogonit RTU are required to control the dog spots?
This depends on the size and the degree of damage. Generally small spots (less than 4 inches) require 3-6 squirts. Spots just beginning to turn yellow require a couple of squirts. Simply spray each spot, approximately 4-5 inches in diameter with 7-8 sprays and flush with water. Repeat every 5-7 days until spot has grown in. You should be able to get results with one or two applications. This is partially dependent upon the size of dog and the concentration of urine.
What if I do not water it in right away?
Dogonit works much like soap does to grease and will break down the urine salts. It will help flush the salts out but you need water to do the flushing.
How long does it take Dogonit to work?
You should be able to get results with one or two applications. If the dog continues to mark the same spot, it will become difficult to heal the lawn. For best results, apply as soon as possible after the dog has urinated on lawn or when first signs of yellowing appear.
The dog spots are not filling in as quickly in the summer as they did in spring, why?
Most grasses - bluegrass, fescue, and ryegrass grow more slowly in the summer. As the temperature increases, their rate of growth decreases. It is not uncommon for spots to not infill in the height of summer as a result. This is especially evident when the temperature is in the high 90's or greater. The rate of infill is limited to the rate of growth of the grass.
Can I reseed the spots after applying Dogonit?
Yes, you can reseed dog spots shortly after applying Dogonit. Dogonit's unique microbial activity does not impact germination or survivability of grasss seed. Once seeded, spots should fill in fairly quickly. We recommend using our RevitaLawn Grass Patch for terrific germination and faster growth.
Where can I purchase Dogonit in my area?
Our products are available exclusively at MegaGro.com and through select gardening catalogs. We offer free shipping on orders of $80 or more.
Why does dog urine cause yellow spots in lawns?
The spots are caused by an excess rate of uric acid, which is converted to ammonia, and high rates of salts or a combination of both. Dogonit ties up the salts and ammonia and increases the filtration rate through the soil improving the ability of the grass to grow.
Is urine from female dogs worse than that from males?
Females discharge urine in a more concentrated area than males, which is more likely to lead to spotting in lawns. However, the real culprit is the concentration of the urine itself. The more highly concentrated the urine, the greater the damage to the grass.
What causes the difference in concentration of urine?
A number of factors are at work: the amount of water the dog consumes, genetics, and the dog's diet.
Will Dogonit work on my lawn?
Yes, Dogonit works on all grass types - Bahia, Bentgrass, Bermuda, Bluegrass, Buffalo, Carpet, Centipede, Fescue, Ryegrass, St. Augustine, Zoysia.
